NEWS ARCHIVE 2K2-2K5

DECEMBER 21, 2005

It's been a very busy period for me, so that explains this late update. Thankfully, my
holiday has just started and there's time to finish all those things I left behind.

Almost two weeks ago, Sega online organised a Dreamcast event here in Holland
Naturally, I was there and so where a lot of other Dreamcast/SEGA die-hards
including the people from Dreamcast Scene. I had a good look at Cool Herders
(an awesome game, well worth the $20 price) and some excellent multiplayer
matches of games like F-355, Virtua Tennis & 90 minutes (we all forgot V.S. 2)

I also was lucky enough to be featured at Sega of Europe's website, in their
SEGA fan gallery. (Look at 'This months winners' -> Ivan) and received a
SEGA goodie pack. Which is always welcome around these parts, naturally.

In the mean time, SEGA released another bunch of new games. Sonic
Rush
was released for the Nintendo DS and received very decent reviews.
Shadow the hedgehog -on the other hand- got heartily slagged off by
most of the press. (Told you so, SEGA). Typical.

Segadatabase. It's taking quite a while and I'm aware of that,
but I'm working hard to get the first part up before the end of the year.

Expect a couple of interesting updates in the last couple of weeks of this year.

DECEMBER 6, 2005

For everyone looking to buy Radilgy: Lik Sang has opened pre-orders!

SeGaFrEaK

DECEMBER 4, 2005

Is it Sunday already again? Sure is. (In fact it already is monday for a lot of you).
Here's some more stuff to keep you from the streets. First of all, there's the return of
the obscure SEGA item of the week (that took a while eh?). Secondly, I did (If I do say
some myself) a rather excellent link-up feature. Oh and I cleaned up the specials list
as well. Suh-weet!

SeGaFrEaK

DECEMBER 2, 2005

Everything Dreamcast-release related went horribly quiet..untill today!
Coming straight from MileStone software: Radilgy! Oh yes! February 2006 will
be the month! Review (+media) right here on Segacollection, naturally.
Dreamcast DOES refuse to die ^_-

A very happy indeed

NOVEMBER 28, 2005

You know those moments you're so bored you just browse around the internet to see if
any sites were updated? Well, feel safe in the knowledge there's always the weekly Segacollection.com update to look forward to..ah bless. I did some SEGA power
magazine overviews
and here's another one of those 'funky' top 10 lists:

Top 10 Annoyances  Top 10 Good things
Spam emails. Enough already!        Celga stuff coming in! Wahey!!!
Public transportation. What a crime. Dreamcast: 7th anniversary
Planning too many things to handle DC Games from G-REV(!?)
Almost December already? Damn..time flies. Cool Saturn imports
Shadow the hedgehog..SEGA what were you thinking?  Site feedback (thaaanks!)
Hints of upcoming R.S.I.  Nooooooooo. NEC Nijmegen winning streak!
Spyware. #$@^&! Ebay deals/steals
Bills...all at once. (Naturally) Segadatabase.com..almost done!
Getting soaked while waiting for that damn bus  Holidays coming up..
Working for hours on stuff you end up not liking. SEGA: more profits!

No more promises on upcoming things, because there's far too much stuff I should do
before Xmas. But the updates will keep coming..naturally.

NOVEMBER 19, 2005

Another interesting interview today, an interview with KinsukeJP, author of some excellent
game lists. I added a new subforum to the Segacollection / Segadatabase boards, which
is for members only, featuring some exclusive media not to be missed.  New media will be
added every month, so if you haven't already got an account (free, naturally) make sure
you get one now. Finally, for Dutch SEGA/Dreamcast fans; make sure you check out
the recently opened Dutch Dreamcast event page. It's an event organised by Dutch
Sega site Sega Online, which also is well worth a look and a visit!

Stop press: Goat Store publishes Dreamcast Cool Herders before X-mas, get your
order in
!

SeGaFrEaK

NOVEMBER 13, 2005

Well, no more N-GAGE reviews for now, but I added another 2 issues of DC UK to
the overview. Next, to celebrate the upcoming release of Sonic Rush (which already gained
two 90% + marks) I've added a whole slew of cool Sonic-X merchandise to the SHOP!

Another few points of note: This months PC GAMER UK issue (AOE III cover) comes
with a free Football manager 2006 mousemat, SEGA USA started a game download
section at their online shop, SEGA USA will also publish Stuart little big photo adventure 3
(huh?), SEGA Europe announces Where do babies come from as Rub Rabbits (double huh?), Condemned for XBOX360 less than two weeks away from its release and the latest version
of my Dezaemon 2  F.A.Q./Guide will be uploaded to GameFAQs this week. *phew*

Next update: More magazine issue overviews, another interview and maybe even more.

SeGaFrEaK

NOVEMBER 7, 2005

The semi final N-GAGE review (only Super monkey ball left, review probably in a week or
two, I don't have it in yet) in the form of Puyo pop. Also, if you liked the review and
feel like buying the game, why not pop over to the updated Segacollection shop!

That's it for now, 'till next time!

SeGaFrEaK

OCTOBER 31, 2005

Like promised, here's the Pocket Kingdom review, go check it out.

For a new feature I want you guys to MAIL IN and nominate the most UNFAIR games
you know. Games released by SEGA or released on a SEGA format, naturally.

Expect some more updates this week, either on Segadatabase or right here.

SeGaFrEaK

OCTOBER 23, 2005

I've been busy with Segadatabase and it's becoming very good indeed. Also, I've
seen the new Wallace and Gromit movie which was brilliant. Sadly, I also had the
'honour' of playing Virtua Tennis for the N-GAGE. Which -to put it mildly- isn't
very good. Oh well, back to Pocket Kingdom it is. (review next week!)

SeGaFrEaK

OCTOBER 15, 2005

Read the first line of last update because it fits here as well. But -and that's the good news-
I got another good update for you guys ('n' girls). I added two more issue overviews of
DC-UK and I did the first N-GAGE review (of a total of four, coming one pro week for the
coming month) of Sonic-N. In other news:

*At the recent 'Preview 2006' show (held last week) SEGA showcased various new arcade
games. Games like: World Cup championship football, House of the Dead 4, Disco Dream (!)
and Dinosaurking (a Mushiking spin-off for European audiences). More info can found HERE.

*Just as I suspected; the two Dreamcast games that popped up at the release schedule printed
in SEGA press weren't actually supposed to be there. The latest issue does not feature them.

*I'm working hard to get the first few parts of Segadatabase back up. Rest assured it's
going to rock even more!

*Some parts of this site that weren't updated for a while will be soon. Especially most
of the specials. (Obscure SEGA item of the week, Shows show SEGA etc). As for the
long-time planned SEGA chef specials, there's finally light at the end of the tunnel!

Till next time,

SeGaFrEaK

OCTOBER 2, 2005

I was pretty busy the last two weeks, so that explains the lack of updates.
I added a content overview for the first three issues of DC-UK. I fixed the
Death Crimson review
, and here's the new poll:

What's the best 'USA only' Dreamcast game?

*Alien front online
*Bomberman online
*Maximum Pool
*Ooga Booga
*Sega Smash pack vol 1
*Atari anniversary edition
*Armada
*4x4 Evolution
*Matt Hoffman's pro BMX
*Other

Oh and here's the latest; the monthly Japanese SEGA info leaflet SEGA PRESS comes with
a rather unusual piece of news. (Thanks, Yakumo) Two games were placed back onto the Dreamcast release schedule; one of them being..RING AGE! Does this story never end?
To be honest, this sounds like a cock-up on the part of SEGA PRESS more than anything
else, but hey, who knows.

P.S. Expect the promised Segadatabase update tomorrow. I ran out of time, sorry!

SeGaFrEaK

SEPTEMBER 18, 2005

Now the Tokyo game show has ended, there's plenty of great looking SEGA projects to look forward to. The next-gen Sonic game being one of them. It also could've been the perfect place for developers (Think; Mile Stone / G-REV) to announce Dreamcast games. Sadly, that just
didn't happen. It's been a horribly quiet time for the Dreamcast fans, with no new games being announced. Time for me to update the 'Scraping the barrel' special I wrote a few months back.
Sadly, there's not much news I could find, leaving the 'upcoming DC release' list as empty as ever. Hmm.

Another thing I updated is the Sega magazine (UK) issue listing. 5 more issues were listed
and the magazine covers were scanned now. (Sadly the mags are too big to fit on a normal
scanner so there's a small part cut off) More magazines and issues will probably be listed soon.
For now, enjoy the update and see you next week.

SeGaFrEaK

SEPTEMBER 6, 2005

Lik-sang update! Apart from a special on the new portable home-made
Dreamcast, Lik-sang has a whole bunch of new cool SEGA toys in stock! First of all; the
mini SEGA arcade cabinets
I raved about for quite a while, they're quite frankly AWESOME.

^Now in stock at Lik-sang, thanks (more or less) to me.

Secondly, there's these Virtual On: Cyber troopers toys:

^Very detailed & very nice!

And if all of that wasn't enough already, they also stock the Sega history collection toys
vol 1 & 2 and the Sega gals collection toys! Get your order in before they're sold out!

SeGaFrEaK

SEPTEMBER 4, 2005

I didn't find the time for another Segadatabase update (Which always takes LOADS of time, believe me), but I DID found time to both update 'Ebay fun' (which isn't quite so cack anymore),
and update the Sega Polls archive with 3 new poll results and my comments. Here's a new one
as well:

What's the best 'JAP only' Dreamcast game?

*Ikaruga
*Border Down
*Segagaga
*Giant Gram 2 / 2000
*Samba de Amigo ver.2000
*Sakura Wars 2/3/4/online
*Guilty Gear X
*Cosmic Smash
*Space Channel 5 part 2
*Other

SEPTEMBER 1, 2005

The amount of cool undiscovered Saturn imports never fail to surprise me. A few days back I found that the popular PC game 'Phantasmagoria' actually was released for the Saturn! Coming
in a BIG box and sporting 8 discs! Guess I'll have to pick that one up sometime. In the mean
time, I delivered the promised Segadatabase.com update (check it out if you didn't already),
did another audio track for 'Alice Dreams' and managed to pick up two Saturn BETA's. SEGA
didn't exactly stop working either, with the recent release of Virtua Tennis world (PSP) and today's announcement of Virtua Fighter 5, After Burner (Yeah!), Power Smash 3, Psy-phi (By
the man Suzuki himself, no less) and House of the Dead 4. Looks like there's great times ahead!

Onto today's update; I did a magazine overview for Total Saturn (very obscure 1996/1997 UK mag) and updated the magazine list with even more info. Expect more updates either here or on Segadatabase coming weekend. Over and out.

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 23, 2005

Well, SEGA announced their 'next big game' called 'Ryo Ga Gotuku' and it seems like a ShenMue / GTA cross-over. Bit of downer that it will be released on the ageing PS2
hardware, but it seems alright. Anyway, to eat away little of your time, here's both the new
arcade special (featuring Ghost Squad) and a fixed version of the Family Feud review.
I'll be updating Segadatabase.com later this week, so see you there.

!!SHOCK RELEASE: Shen Mue 3 announced! See Kikizo for more information!!

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 20, 2005

These magazine issue overviews take a lot of time to compile but as they're pretty popular,
here's 3 issues of Mega Force (French version).

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 18, 2005

I just returned from a ten day holiday, and while it was fun; 'there's no place like home'.
Expect plenty of interesting stuff in the next week, including more magazine issue
overviews and a new arcade special featuring Ghost Squad.

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 6, 2005

As promised a while back; a review of Ultimate Qix / Volvied (Which simply is its JAP name).

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 4, 2005

Here's a couple of things you might like to hear. First; Sega made a net profit of $95.5 million
in the April-June quarter! Not bad eh? Good sales of games like Mushi King: Road to
the greatest champion
also helped SEGA stocks (which already risen 27 percent this year)
to rise another 1.1 percent. Great news.

In other news, I updated Segadatabase again with another 4 profiles, with a total of
52 game profiles now online! Profiles consists of a box scan, a disc scan, a title
screen screenshot and eight gameplay screenshots! Add tons of information and
it's your best source online!

To round off todays update here a new poll:

JULY 29, 2005

Another magazine overview done in new style: Sega XS. A better overview and cover scans
for most issues. I also enhanced the magazine list, with more info and more mags! Finally,
I did the re-did the UMK3 review. Enjoy!

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 26, 2005

Like promised I did some more magazine scans. I scanned the covers of Saturn Power 1-10.
I used digital camera pictures before, because the magazines (just like 90% of all the other
mags, sadly) won't fit on an A4 scanner. Read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page and
you'll know what I mean. Also, I fixed two of the older reviews: Keio 2 and Congo Bongo,
which are now all nice and readable again. Gun Griffon 2, UMK3 and Race Drivin' are
the next ones to go under the knife..

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 24, 2005

I've been busy with Segadatabase lately, as I'm trying to get as much stuff up before the end
of the year. Current target: 250 profiles. Which is tough, because I'm still the only one
doing screencaps and box scans. If you got the material to do either, why not join me?
I haven't got much on the updates part for this moment, but a review of Ultimate Qix
(Genesis) and some magazine scans are coming right up. For now, enjoy this..

Top 10 Annoyances  Top 10 Good things
Being a poor sob.. yet AGAIN             Celga stuff coming in! Wahey!!!
Thieving gits (See July 14 update) The Saturn link-up specials
Where's the bloody sun!? The interview with Jim Blackler
Unanswered emails. Cool Saturn imports
The lack of site feedback. Ultimate QIX/Volvied (MD/GEN)
Pimples, enough already! Arcade meeting 'coming up..
Dust. Everywhere. Holidays 'coming up..
My PAL Saturn died on me. NOOOooooooooooo! Macarons.
Playing the s**** that is Street Fighter: The Movie  More SSM issues coming in..
The general lack of in-house snacks Ebay deals/steals

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 15, 2005

Apologies for the harsh update yesterday, but I became more than a little pissed off at the
general selection of people who think they can steal whatever they want and get away with it.
Anyway, I've got a GREAT update today, as the promised link-up specials on Daytona CCE and
Hexen are done. Oh, and I updated the DOOM one as well. Look forward to more link-up info in
the future, as there's a general lack of info to be found on the 'net. Over and out.

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 14, 2005

Just a small update for all the ***holes that have been stealing media (and removed MY CREDIT, WHICH WAS IN BECAUSE I DID THE WORK OF RIPPING IT! Every site that hosts the Dutch Megadrive commercial HAS STOLEN it from here, just so you know); I hope you
die soon.
Thank you.

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 12, 2005

I planned on doing another update last week, but that fell through because of several other projects and the intense heat. Don't worry, though, the best is yet to come. Another
special on link-up gaming is finally ready and will be uploaded this week. The last one
(featuring DOOM) was pretty popular and I daresay the likes of HEXEN and Daytona
will be as well.  For today, check out the poll below (and VOTE dammit!) and the new
obscure SEGA object of the week. See you this Friday!

-poll ended-

SeGaFrEaK

JULY 3, 2005

I was on holiday for the last week, so that left this site in state of non-update.
Normal service now resumes with a new review: Assault Rigs (Saturn JAP).
Sega updated its Dreamcast release schedule again with the sad news that all
upcoming releases were scrapped. D'oh! That basicly means that the release
of Ring Age is now in severe doubt. I would've gone as far as to forget about
it altogether, but as the game still isn't confirmed to be cancelled I wont..yet.
On the other side there's G-rev's latest shooter 'Under Defeat' which looks
seriously cool, and would make an awesome Dreamcast release. Here's hoping.
One of the Dreamcast homebrews I've been involved with: 'Joggle' is about
to go public again, but in greatly improved shape. Look out for a new demo
somewhere this month. As far as other updates go, look forward to more than
enough great ones coming right up.

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 21, 2005

Yet another magazine listing updated; Saturn Super. Issue 2&3 added, as well as many scans.
In the mean time, lots of content was and will be fixed to match my new standards.

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 17, 2005

Out of nowhere, here's the best interview to grace this site yet. Ever wanted to know more
about such titles as Prince of Persia (MD/Genesis version), Bloodshot (Megadrive/Mega-
CD), Theme Park (Mega-CD version) or Crimewave (Saturn)? This interview with programmer Jim Blackler will give you all the info you'll ever wanted to know! Read on..

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 12, 2005

Ahh.. ain't life great sometimes? I recently had the chance to buy a very early version
of Red Dog for the Dreamcast. Can't say I wasn't extremely excited when all the early
bits were mine for the viewing! And because I am such a nice person (no really) , I am
willing to share it with you as well, in the form of a nice special! Just 16 screens now,
but I'll re-do some of them and add some new ones as well later. Just enjoy these
for the moment and feel safe in the know that more like this is coming. Ohh yes!

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 11, 2005

Here's the new obscure SEGA item of the week, enjoy. Check back tomorrow for
some very nice pics of a Dreamcast game in early stages.

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 10, 2005

The magazine overview just got loads better. The issue covers can now be seen in the profiles
themselves, which makes for a better view. Each review score will now also be added!
Sega Magazine (UK) is the first magazine have its profile changed into the new format.
Go check it out and wait for these changes in the other mag listings as well soon.

Edit: You can say a lot of me, but you can't say Im slow; I've done Saturn Power as well!

SeGaFrEaK

JUNE 4, 2005

It's my birthday today, but instead of you giving me stuff, Im giving you stuff. Odd.
Anyway, here another special: Scraping the barrel. It's about all the possible upcoming
Dreamcast releases. I also moved a LARGE part of the frontpage to the archive (about
time really) and you can expect another Segadatabase.com update soon as well.
Expect more info on unreleased games and early versions (woohoo) next week.

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 27, 2005

It didn't make it for yesterday, but here's the obscure SEGA item of the week.

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 26, 2005

As I just visited Dreamcast-Scene (And so should you every now and then) I came across
some words on Dreamcast by former Sega C.E.O Peter Moore..and boy does he talk a load of
b*******. Thanks to Game Daily Biz and ,like said, Dreamcast Scene for this exerpt, on which I
just couldn't resist to comment, such is its inaccuracy on the part of Peter Moore;

BIZ: Some have drawn comparisons to the Dreamcast launch for the Xbox 360. Obviously with your experience at Sega and working with the Dreamcast, you would know better than anyone, so what are your thoughts?

PM: He who has not learned from history is doomed to repeat it. But boy do you learn. Here's the key. 160 games in development right now for Xbox 360. I don't think I ever had a time at Sega where I could see more than 25 games in development.[Oh and what about the time before the DC launch? - S.F] I now have in my role as head of both first- and third-party have visibility well into 2007 and in some instances games that are just getting going in the concept stage for 2008. What happened with the Dreamcast was we shipped Crazy Taxi—that was it! [Are you 'crazy'? You may want to check that for accuracy  - S.F]  Think of the juxtaposition here; EA never developed a single game for Dreamcast. Don Mattrick would still be there [at the press conference] now showing stuff he's working on for the 360 if I didn't have to get off the stage eventually. We had not had any real first-party power behind the Dreamcast. We had Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Phantasy Star Online; we certainly didn't have Halo, Fable, Jade Empire, Forza Motorsport, Project Gotham Racing [Which is just MSR+ - S.F] and so on and so forth—umm [Gotta think hard here eh? - S.F], Conker, Perfect Dark Zero. We were trying to penetrate a market that was growing with Western power (North America & Europe) with Japanese content, and you get Dreamcast if you try to do that. [? Umm yeah okay. It was SEGA's rubbish marketing that made the DC fail actually -S.F]

BIZ: To this day, the Dreamcast remains one of, if not the most treasured console, for many gamers.

PM: I've never met anybody that ever regretted buying a Dreamcast... We sold 4.1 million units here in the U.S. [Typical now the press' praise part comes up he starts defending the DC - S.F] before closing the business... but we just didn't have anything to carry us through to 2000 [2000? You mean 2002. 2000 was an excellent year release-wise for the DC, please think about what you you're saying before you do - S.F] and it was unfortunate. And I also learned the tactical power of what's Sony approach would be at that time as well, and we're well aware of that. So we're battle hardened and ready to go.

BIZ: It's almost as if the Xbox and Xbox 360 are like spiritual successors to the Dreamcast, and I guess your involvement with Microsoft has something to do with that.

PM: When the Xbox launched I said, "I feel like the Dreamcast is passing the baton to the Xbox" because of the dream of online play and bringing people together (because the Dreamcast was the first online console) [A man who worked for SEGA who doesn't know the Saturn had online play as well *sigh* - S.F] and the words I said, and this was May 2001, were, "Do I think that Microsoft can drive online as a huge advantage and be a differentiator in the next generation and be successful? You bet your ass I do." Those were my exact words... Some people look at the Dreamcast and then the color of that [points to 360 on display] and say "right." [Shame you didn't do the same for the DC - make it successful - S.F]

(...)

So that's three questions about the Dreamcast and he manages to get all three messed up.
Good job there, Peter. Hmpf.

Anyway, I'll be back later today with the obscure SEGA object of the week..

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 21, 2005

With the E3 now gone, it's only natural to run a poll about it, don't you think?

-poll ended-

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 19, 2005

About time? Yeah, I know. I was busy with far too many other things
to free some time to do an update. The E3 is running and SEGA just
announced their line-up. (expect pics of the SEGA stand in a couple of
days), Sony showcased their PS3, together with the most ridiculous
controller I've seen for a long time.. yep they've done it again..

^There's only one real chiquita banana.

Jokes aside, here's the new obscure SEGA item of the week.
Oh and check Segadatabase.com in a few hours for another update!

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 8, 2005

Well, no obscure SEGA for this week, but I do have some other things.
First, the demo versions of two excellent Dreamcast homebrews were
released yesterday; Joggle and Alice Dreams. Both very good pieces
of software well worth checking out. Oh and incidentally I did some
BGM for both of them. Aaand you might as well check Segadatabase
because I updated it yesterday and it's coming along quite nicely.
But what about the 'mystuff' section of this site? That hasn't been
updated for aaaaaaaages. Yes, very right and that's why I decided
to update it a little. It ain't complete, but a lot more so. Finally,
check out this Japanese website, which has some excellent new
pictures of those super cool Sega arcade toys! Gotta have them!

SeGaFrEaK

MAY 1, 2005

I really don't like the fact that it took such a while (slow shipping was the thing that caused
the delay) for the Trizeal review, but here it is. I didn't bother doing footage this time, because
a gameplay movie featuring most stages is available on the Triangle service website anyway. Now it's only waiting for the next Dreamcast game to be announced..

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 27, 2005

Hmm, my copy of Trizeal only came in yesterday so expect a review of it this weekend.
What I do have ready at the moment are: the new obscure SEGA item of the week
and the poll results for polls 8,9 & 10. I've got plenty of other stuff coming up so
keep an eye on this site for the rest of this month. Hits are definitely picking up,
(yeah!) and the DOOM link up feature was partly responsible for that.
Because link-up gaming info is so obscure and I'm a link-up fetishist at
heart, expect more on it soon. See-ya for now!

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 20, 2005

Because I feel like it, here's a nice big piece of text, for that 'personal' feeling.

First, there's the promised interview, and what a goodie it is! I interviewed
Roel van Mastbergen from Senile Team (them of Beats of rage fame) and
asked about such things as Age of the Beast. Go read it, like, now.

Next, I did the new obscure SEGA item of the week. Which is
a pretty popular feature and maybe rightly so. Anyway, I've
got A LOT of cool things coming up, they involve link up gaming,
unreleased games, specials and maybe even a partnership!

Finally, for the ones waiting for a Trizeal review, it's coming
end of this week. Sadly, it took a while..slow shipping et all.

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 13, 2005

*Sigh* done at last. You know, I've been busy with far too many
things lately. I've been converting the Alex kidd peticopter round
using DEZA2, composing some BGM tracks for the upcoming
Dreamcast 'Joggle' game, doing F.A.Q.'s, bidding on Saturn samplers,
selling stuff on Ebay, doing Dreamcast scans, doing Dreamcast
screenshots, bothering people for interviews, scanning SEGA manuals,
shipping stuff...and updating this site as well. But now Im done.
Expect to wait a while for another update, Im taking a break..

Just. after. this. special.

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 12, 2005

Here's the new poll (for now) , more updates are coming up;
*Obscure SEGA item of the week (tomorrow)
*Sega power magazine overview (this week)
*Trizeal review (within 2 weeks)
*Sega chef (this month)

-poll ended-

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 11, 2005

I updated the Saturn Demo disc & sampler guide list - check it out!
It's by far the best list on the net!

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 10, 2005

Sorry dudes, I was too busy to prepare an update. Why not check out this site (it's a nice read)
for now and  I'll see you tomorrow.|

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 9, 2005

I finally updated the Game Gear PAL database, it's a lot more complete now.
Expect another Game Gear database update with lots more info soon.

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 8, 2005

The interview didn't make it for today but instead I added three
excellent SEGA soundtracks to the downloads section:

*SEGA informercial 1997 soundtrack (Remember this one?)

Yujin, the company we started to love after their excellent SEGA console toys,
anounced a third range (the first was the SEGA GIRLS range). Fans will be glad to know
the toys will be based on characters from famous SEGA franchises such as Golden Axe and
Wonderboy. However, it gets better as SEGA released both these excellent straps:

and will release these super cool mini arcade cabinets (TOYS!) in April.

-Thanks to NCSX.COM for the pics-

DECEMBER 3, 2004

Do you remember the SEGA happy meal special we did back in May or so? You probably do.
Now, some news filtered through in August that NEW toys arrived with Happy meals™ in
Brazil. Well, apparently (thanks to Sega Xtreme for the news) it's already time for another
SEGA happy meal! This time, the toys from Brazil (and Asia, I must add) are going to be packed
with American happy meals STARTING TODAY.  Quite shocking really, as the period between
the first and second (1994 and 2003 respectively) was nine years! Could we be looking at
some sort of a partnership between the software and fastfood giants? Who knows.
Rest assured that if these toys reach Dutch shores (Probably around May 2005) I'll go
out and do another zany special. Huzzah!

Onto another point and that's the upcoming release of Chaos Field.
The game is about a week away from it's release (yah!) and you bet it will be reviewed
before crimbo.

The joy of stats. Named after an old Saturn power feature, here's some interesting stats.

Apart from the usual unreconizable .net and .com accounts, most of the visitors of this site
come from: The Netherlands. No surprise there (being a regular in the Dutch SEGA scene),
but let me give you an idea of the other positions.
People out of:

*Germany - 3%
*Belgium (!): 3%

*United Kingdom: 3%
*Brazil: 2%
*Australia: 2%
*Canada: 2%

Others are mostly Japan, Portugal, France, Sweden & Peru(double !!)
And the rest? Italy, Poland, Spain, Mexico, Finland, Taiwan, New Zealand, Denmark,
Turkey, Greece, Russia (!), Thailand (!) and Saudi Arabia (!!)

Other points of note are the very popular items: Baldr Force Exe review (Bless 'em!)
The Sega-CD Database (!), The PAL Saturn database, The downloads section (hmpf)
and the mystuff part. (I really should update that). Oh and the Clockwork knight:
Pengin war
alpha movies sure went down well..

BTW The 60k hits line was almost reached again..nice.

Sorry, but I just can't seem to stop typing up interesting facts in these cold days.
(Well over here, anyway). You remember that little company called SEGA EUROPE?
Oh yes you do.. now it's hard for me to talk about them without becoming nasty but..they're
doing rather fine actually..

You see..the SPORTS INTERACTIVE division of it has done something that really is worth
some praise: they outsold (and still do actually) Half Life 2 with their recent Football Manager
2005
! (How about a copy guys?). Even Dutch football magazine 'Voetbal international'
has done a promotion with it...printed ads even..wouldn't have predicted that to be honest.

The recent sales mark of Sonic Heroes on PS2 (>1.000.000 copies sold) and the pretty good
chart placing of Outrun 2 sure are impressive for a company that hasn't really done much
in the charts since Virtua tennis!

Well..that's the news for now..expect an update for MYSTUFF and
a new poll this Sunday..and keep an eye out for SEGA's upcoming GHOST SQUAD and
MUSHI king arcade games in Europe! (Info HERE)

over and out

^No 3. Still lingering around the internet if you search hard enough.

SeGaFrEaK

SEPTEMBER 20, 2004

It was a very hard decision to make, but after thinking about it once more, this is final;
We're moving. That's right, moving. But, not in total. Let me give you an idea of what to expect. As of 11 November 2004, Segacollection.com will no longer sport the game & hardware
databases
. These databases will be totally redone on a new site, with a new design and
a total amount of multimedia coverage that will blow you away. We're talking 2500+ games,
4+ screens pro game, box scans, cart scans, cd scans and user reviews that can be added online.
Now, there's loads of databases around these days, but honestly, how much info and
media do they actually got? Zero to nothing. Well, a game covered in this database will be
more than a name entered once and then forgot about. At this very moment THIS site
already contains over 1500 screenshots, tons of boxscans and info, so you betcha it will be off to a  good start. That said, the quality of both the screenshots and boxshots will improve greatly.
I am aiming at the goal of the ultimate online SEGA database here, and nothing less.

'But what will become of this site?'
Well, apart from the Game and Hardware databases, this site will remain the SAME. (For now)
That means specials/reviews (ALL UPCOMING DREAMCAST RELEASES COVERED - FULL MEDIA STYLE!!) and everything else that you've seen updated in the past months.
Look at it this way: You're looking for a real fansite with interesting specials, collector profiles, reviews and lots of other SEGA goodies? -> Segacollection.com

Looking for the ultimate SEGA game/Hardware database? -> SEGADATABASE

Now, while I could keep doing this all by myself (Hey I've been doing pretty much everything myself,  for the past 5 years) I'm looking for enthousiastic people, interested in helping by
taking  screenshots, doing boxscans and adding game profiles. And if you're a real web-design god,  I could also be interested in your services. 'Yeah and what's in it for me?' I hear you say..
Well..DROP ME A LINE and we will work something out.
Be a part of history (etc.)

SeGaFrEaK

AUGUST 4, 2004

It is a busy time, with lots of interesting developments for SEGA fans. Like the
upcoming release of BALDR Force EXE - 10.28-2004. It will be reviewed
within a week of that on this very site! - And Im planning reviews  for ALL upcoming
non 'date sim' games on Dreamcast, so if you're looking for coverage of new DC games,
there's only one place to go! Here's an idea of upcoming features before the end of the year:

*Baldr Force Exe Dreamcast Review + media (screens, movies)
*Arcade special 2 featuring Outrun 2, King of route 66, Soul surfer.. (This weekend probably)
*5 new reviews; 1 DC (apart from that one above) 1 SAT, 1MD, 1MCD & 1 GG
*New hardware pics: Gamegear, Saturn, Mega-CD/Sega-CD. *Hardware specs and
console pics: Sega Pico *More SEGA magazine issue overviews (Sega Magazine, Sega power, SSM etc) *Xmas compo. *More unreleased games unveiled! *Sega Show overview.
(E3, Toyko Game show etc) *Over 250 new screenshots (SAT, SMS, DC etc)
*Better site design.

Well, I think you'll have to agree that can't be beaten!

In the mean time -which means today- I updated the pics on the game database select,
filled the archive (the news was going back untill October 2003 on this front page!)
and made some general fixes here and there.

If you're bored, go check out the cool homebrew Alice Dreams
which I did some stuff for. (i.e. Dutch translation and maybe even some BGM)

Oh and there's one more thing I'd like to bring your attention to:

That's right the past month this site raked up nearly 70k hits! Pretty shocking really.
If this keeps up and grows to, say, 85k a month, you'd be looking a website with
1.000.000 hits pro year. I'd sure like that. And what's more, Im still pretty proud to
keep this site running without such crap as pop-ups and tonnes of banners, fileplanet
downloads and dodgy overlords. The only thing I'm missing now is some FEEDBACK.
That's right, send me some. If you're looking for coverage on anything that has SEGA
on it, why not let me know?

P.S I put some Game Gear stuff on Ebay, you might want to take a look.
P.P.S Sorry about the lame Annie joke below..I was drunk at that moment.
(Actually, I wasn't.. oh dear)

Over and out.

'Going to London'

SeGaFrEaK

APRIL 1, 2003

Well folks, this is it. I have some good and some sad news to announce.
First, yesterday I received an email from the Consumer Software
Development section from S.O.J
Basicly, they invited me for a meeting, April 5, in London. (which is indeed
home of the department of S.O.E)
They offered me a 12 hour/week contract, which frankly isn't much
buy hey, that truely kicks ass!

For the sad part, ill no longer be able to update this website on a regular base.
Ill look into a new webmaster (mail me if you think you have what it takes)

BTW Unfortunately, this 'killed' the planned update yesterday, but you can guess
there was some heavy celebrating going on here!

I wish to thank you all, ill add my new contact information &
final update tomorrow.

S.O.J SeGaFrEaK

MARCH 30, 2003

Ugh, Ive done the dirty deed. I added a banner.
This banner will stay untill my account minimum is reached,
then it will be gone. Well, at least im not adding a sad
'Support this site by Paypal' button, eh? :P

On the updates part, there's some nice stuff coming tomorrow, keep checking.

MARCH 25, 2003 (late night)

Normally I wouldn't think about updating twice a day but this is a special case.
I mailed GoodDealGames.com for some screens of their projects (To be exact: their Mega/SegaCD games), and along with a very swift reply came some excellent screenshots for the database!
Stuff like this (companies that actually care about the products they've created and the people that play them) makes me very happy indeed.
Well, it would be a natural thing to do really, so
head to:

and check out their projects!
They've just released a new edition of their Mega/SegaCD project:
Bug Blasters - The Exterminators too!

And yes, the screenshots can now be viewed in the database.
(Have to check about the Citizen_X PAL release)

BTW Ill look into a GoodDealGames interview, with some questions
about their upcoming projects for SEGA consoles.
Who knows.. ^_^

To start todays update; I made a mistake when viewing
the stats last time. Because of checking the site for errors after updating,
I generate traffic myself. I forget about that, so the hits pro day are more in the region
of 400-500 a day. Still, thats more than 10.000 pro month :)

I fixed some more missing stuff and added a new review:
KEIO'S FLYING SQUADRON 2

FEBRUARY 28, 2003

Yesterday I checked the stats of this same page in front of you. I was surprised
(Well..shocked) that on some days this page gets around 1000 hits!
While this may seem 'average', that same amount was the traffic
it was getting in the first two years of its existance in total!
Also, traffic is generated from lots of countries including Japan, Australia,
Sweden, US, Taiwan etc! Of course this makes my very happy and gives me
just the kick to keep updating and making this site even better!
To give credit where it is due, Id like to thank and say 'Hi!' to these people;

Kuffi,Matt C, Sen, AdviseORe @ Sega Reform, David C @ Saturn Museum,
The people at Segaforum.nl, Maxim & Bock @ SMSpower, Stratingguys,
Judge Dread @ GameGear.nl , Steve Snake @ KEGA, Quinntesson @ AGES & everybody who supported me in the past!

Cheers all!

On the updates part; Ive fixed some brokes images, added missing html etc.
Its still not done in some places, but im working on it :)

Well well well its party time around here because I finally upgraded to a new server!
No more 1MB file limits (expect some AWESOME downloads soon!), no more banners
which screw the entire design, no more support emails sending needed! All in all, this is a great day for this site :)
